Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, the Mexican American broadcaster. She is the host of SportsNation and serves as an anchor for SportsCenter anchor. She began working for ESPN in 2016. Her mother is TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was a bilingual since she was nine years old, a valuable talent that enabled her to get her first position as a production assistant for Univision in Miami and allowed her to collaborate with producers of national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Her next job was as reporter for sports at The CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, she relocated to Texas in the Rio Grande Valley where she began her news reporting on KNVO TV 48 Univision. Reports on her show covered immigration issues as well as drug trafficking and other issues on both the Texas and Mexico border. Also, she was an anchor and Spanish reporter at the newscast from 5 p.m. and anchor and reporter for the newscast from nine p.m. on English and again a Spanish reporter from 10 p.m. Also, she was often requested to serve as anchors for the weather and sports. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's affiliate station in Dallas. She was also given more accountability. She covered events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and the NBA Postseason, as well as the finals for FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. Apart from that she was also the host and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She was appointed as the sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. The same job was held in Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo on UniMas Network. Antonietta's parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. They eventually relocated into Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. She also has an older sister. In 1992, the family left Mexico for the US and settled in Miami. In 1992, the couple divorced soon after. In 1995, she was remarried Fabio Fajardo, naval engineer, who passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. On a family vacation in Ohio, the younger Collins had taken a position with her older sister. Antonietta still a senior at high school, yet she had a clear idea of the path she wanted. When she was deciding whether Mount Union was right to her needs, Antonietta decided to go visit the university. It was a beautiful campus and offered the degree she wanted. She completed her schooling and was accepted to the University with a degree studying media and communication studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor for WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was a part. Professor Bergmann encouraged her to believe in herself and was deeply touched by his love of journalism.
